Winter signals bottling time and new wine adventures

James Manners, Winemaker

When there is a chill in the air and frost on the ground it can only mean one thing…bottling time. With the 2025 reds tucked away in oak to mature we have prepared and recently bottled our whites and Rosé ready for Spring.

This year the Pinot Grigio and Vermentino are looking bright and polished with strong varietal signatures and delicious acidity and freshness. The Fiano is looking amazing again and has proven itself as a champion for the Mudgee Region.

A new project will also venture into bottle this year, a delicious blend of Fiano and Vermentino wild fermented in a 500L terracotta egg. This will be a limited edition Cellar Door and Prima Cresta Wine Club members release and well worth a visit to taste.

The 2024 reds will then be assessed and pulled out of oak for final assemblage. Barbera and Montepulciano once again highlighting their power, finesse and suitability to the First Ridge Estate vineyard.

Exciting times ahead.
